Mogo Wildlife Park is a privately-owned Zoo that is based on the South Coast of New South Wales. The Park has an array of exotic and native animals such as large carnivores, small carnivores, primates and ungulates. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced zookeeper to join our team on a full-time basis. The role involves providing high-quality animal care, maintaining safe and enriched habitats, browse cutting, food preparation and supporting the health and wellbeing of our animals. The successful candidate should have a sound knowledge on training and conditioning, a passion for enrichment as well as good presentation skills as there will be animal encounters featured in their daily round. A Cert III in Wildlife an Exhibited Animal Care or a similar qualification is essential. The position will require you to work weekends with days off during the week.
Essential criteria:
- Certificate III in Wildlife and Exhibited Animal Care or equivalent;
- Minimum 2 years’ paid experience in a zoological institution;
- Must be willing to work weekends, weekdays and public holidays;
- Flexibility required to work outside normal hours when required;
- Must be able to stand / walk for long periods, able to lift up to 15kg and carry out duties in adverse weather conditions;
- Energetic and polished presentation skills.
Desirable criteria:
- Recognition or active contribution in relevant areas of interest, writing, society/group member,
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working with Taxon currently housed at Mogo Wildlife Park.
- Experience in the field,
- Experience in record keeping,
- Current Drivers Licence,
- First Aid certificate; and
- Positive, flexible attitude for day-to-day duties
